 The Control System Inspector (CSI) will report to the Instrument Manager and be assigned to provide on-going technical and reliability support for instrumentation and controls to one of the production units at the Belpre site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day technical support of instrumentation and controls including troubleshooting and repair of systems in a 24-hour operation.
  • Provide support to operating unit annual turn around maintenance activities.
  • Perform work centered on maintaining instrumentation and controls management systems vital to ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Develop and specify maintenance and testing criteria to assure adherence to Kraton mechanical integrity policies regarding instrumentation and controls.
  • Participate in the design, installation, maintenance, and testing of Safety Instrumented Systems
  • Apply (RGAGEP) Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices and (GMP) Good Manufacturing Practices.
  •  Utilizes independent judgment with respect to the scope of repairs to instrumentation and controls that can have significant business impact from both a financial and HSE perspective.
  • Provide technical support and recommendations to operations and maintenance management to address gaps in instrumentation and controls performance and obsolescence to justify improvement projects or programs.
  •  Manage the delivery of preventive and predictive programs to Kraton instrumentation and controls to ensure compliance with programs and policies.
  • Maintain instrumentation and controls records and issue written reports concerning failure analysis with proposals for resolution or mitigation of bad actors.
  • Participate or lead the development or revision of instrumentation and controls systems and ensure adherence to Kraton Location Specifications
  • Participate or lead Management of Change activities as required by system repairs or improvement projects.
  • Identify new and emerging instrumentation and controls technologies that may be applicable to Kraton processes.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to instrumentation and controls staff and hourly crafts.
  • Provide backup support to other Control Systems Inspectors during absences and high operating unit demands (i.e, vacations, etc.)

Required Skills

  • 5-15 years of experience in process instrumentation and controls.
  • Solid understanding of instrumentation and controls applications.
  • Maintains discipline technical expertise and has general knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Ability to solve technical issues through collaboration with peers or next level support.
  • Ability to perform at a high level with minimal direction.
  • Exercises some latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
  • Provides solutions to variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Expertise with a wide range of field instrumentation including automated valves, transmitters, sensors, and other measurement and final control devices.
  • Team leadership skills including Team Building, Self-Initiative, Planning, Customer Focus, and Flexibility.
  • Expertise with loop checks, tuning, and industrial documentation.
  • Knowledgeable in DCS and PLC systems and Safety Instrumented Systems hardware.

Education, Certifications & Licenses

  • High School Diploma Required.
  • Technical degree/certification/apprenticeship in applicable discipline is desirable.
  • Some discipline specific certifications may be desirable.
