We are hiring members of our Operations team at our Belpre, Ohio, location. We are hiring entry-level production operators who will work within our indoor & outdoor chemical operations team using a Distributed Control System and other automated systems. Entry-level technicians will perform diverse and manual tasks as assigned, which may include operating production processes, housekeeping, and operating packaging equipment.
Work shifts are 12 hours in duration and include rotating days and nights, including weekends and holidays as required by the schedule. Process technicians typically work shifts from 4:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and shifts from 4:30 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Critical physical requirements include the ability to safely lift 50 pounds from floor to waist, and you must be able to work while sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, stair climbing, or ladder climbing. This job includes working with both of your hands, and you will operate various manufacturing equipment so you will need adequate vision, including depth perception, and the ability to hear alarms related to equipment operation. The use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required as determined by job tasks and employees are required to wear a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) respirator as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate equipment to control chemical changes or reactions in the processing of Kraton products
- Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
- Adjust equipment and control settings and record data
- Process samples and field analysis as needed
- Monitor processes and perform routine work area surveillance
- Lubricate, clean, and perform routine maintenance on equipment
- Prepare equipment for maintenance and inspect completed maintenance work with craft workers
- Move raw and processed materials
- Perform routine safety equipment checks and other audits
- Operate and maintain packaging equipment
- Facilitate smooth shift exchange by informing oncoming shift of production status
- Ensure alignment with Kraton values including safety & integrity, courage, creativity, ownership, agility and teamwork
- Required Skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively work on shift teams
- Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Knowledge of machines and tools, with demonstrated mechanical ability preferred
- Troubleshooting skills
- Ability to use critical thinking, sound decision making and problem-solving skills
- Even temperament to work effectively with varying personalities
- Comfort level in a multi-tasking environment
Required Skills
- 1-3+ years’ experience in chemical manufacturing or similar environment preferred
- General knowledge of business preferred
Education, Certifications & Licenses
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Chemical Operator certificate or degree is preferred.
