Key Responsibilities

  • Works with unit manager to develop and execute long term unit strategy
  • Identifies and prioritizes ongoing unit performance gaps and works with the Technical Manager to develop plans to resolve those gaps
  • Provides technical assurance and ownership for the unit PSM Systems (PSSR Leader, SCAI, SOCs, MOCs, Process documentation)
  • Ownership of unit Production / Capacity and Reliability Management Systems
  • Ownership of unit Quality Management Systems
  • Primary owner for Customer Complaint Resolution
  • Interface for Capital Projects within the Operating Unit
  • Applies technical principles, theories, and concepts to generate solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
  • Able to solve complex operating issues through collaboration with peers, technical resources, and assistance from higher level management
  • Manages small to intermediate project teams
  • Owns the financial results of assigned projects in functional areas and influences others to do the same
  • Defines the scope, budget, timeline, and objectives of projects based on operational needs while understanding the profitability impact of those projects and manages accordingly
  • Provides direction and acts as a mentor to junior engineers

Required Skills

  • 5 - 10 years’ Manufacturing experience in an OSHA 1910.119 PSM facility
  • Possess a strong analytical and technical background in both batch plant and continuous operations
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies
  • Project Management experience
  • Knowledgeable in LSS, RCA, SPC 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface seamlessly with Operating Technicians, Support Staff, Technical Staff, and other functional areas of the business such as Supply Chain and Sales
  • Ability to frame up, prioritize, and execute process improvements according to value, cost, and risk with limited supervision
  • Opportunity identification, solution development, cost estimating, field implementation, and technical success within budget for small capital projects
  • Comfortable functioning in a variety of roles ranging from shop floor troubleshooting and problem solving to leading long term process improvement initiatives

Education, Certifications & Licenses

  • B.S. in Engineering (ChE preferred) or 20+ years’ experience processing petrochemicals and polymers with demonstrated technical competencies
  • RCA facilitator training or experience highly desired
  • Green Belt or Black Belt Certification highly desired
