The Reliability Engineer provides the technical support on all reliability engineering issues to the operating unit and supports the operating units in troubleshooting performance gaps and improvement activities in the areas of equipment reliability and helps maximize asset productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement equipment Reliability Strategies using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and other reliability techniques such as Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
  • Apply engineering theory and practice to perform physical failure analysis, determine root cause of equipment failures and conduct equipment performance evaluations
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for major and minor equipment failures.
  • Analyze equipment trends, historical work order data, and production data to recommend and justify improvements to obtain lowest life cycle cost.
  • Help determine how process variation and equipment operation can impact equipment reliability.
  • Promote consistency by standardizing equipment procedures & operations within area of responsibility.
  • Support capital projects by participating in setting equipment criteria and specifications to optimize equipment/system reliability and life cycle cost. Also be available to provide technical support for fabrication, installation, and start-up of new critical equipment.
  • Participate in production turnaround/shutdown teams providing input into needed equipment inspection and repair procedures.
  • Participate in maintenance and reliability networks, sharing best practices, successes and failures.
  • Participate in continuing education courses, professional organizations (e.g. SMRP) and reliability conferences to stay current with, and evaluate, emerging technologies.

Required Skills

  • 4+ years of engineering experience.
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Experience with Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • Experience with SAP CMMS
  • Experience with Vibration Analysis, Oil Analysis, and other Predictive technologies
  • Familiarity with reliability tools such as Weibull Analysis, reliability growth plots, and reliability modeling
  • Experience in a Process Safety Management (PSM) Facility

Education, Certifications & Licenses

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred) other Engineering Disciplines considered with significant amount of reliability engineering experience.
