The Senior Manager, Accounting Center of Excellence, supports and partners with the Director of Accounting and Controlling and has two main areas of responsibility: Leading the Accounting Center of Excellence (ACE) team which is responsible for all accounting transactions including the General Ledger (G/L), Inventory Accounting, and Accounts Payable (A/P); and responsibility for the integrity of the financial statements and both short and long term continuous improvement of the overall accounting function.

Key Responsibilities

Oversight of the Global Accounting Center of Excellence:

  • Lead and manage the ACE team to ensure high performance, including performing training, mentoring and supporting individual development.
  • Drive and hold team accountable to overall integrity of the financial statements.
  • Ensure proper procedures are documented and followed for G/L, A/P, inventory reporting, and cost center reporting.
  • Develop key controls, assess process strengths and weaknesses to track and monitor for continued business improvements.
  • Work to ensure SAP and other accounting systems are continuously improved and optimized.
  • Ensure account reconciliations are performed timely and include clear analysis of account balances.
  • Partner with Internal Audit to ensure global compliance of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX). 
  • Oversee the local statutory audit coordination and audit relationship.
  • Oversee the local VAT coordination and third party relationship.

Business Process Optimization for Record to Report (RtR):

  • Ensure global approach and solutions as Business Process Owner for Record to Report including, optimizing SAP capabilities, developing strong internal controls, ensuring financial reviews, and communicating financial results.
  • Partner with other Business Process Owners (BPO’s) and others stakeholders to identify and drive improvement in overall financial operations (Treasury, Record-to-Report, Source-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, etc.).
  • Partnering with FP&A to align on business strategies and ongoing projects. 
  • Participate in Finance and IT roadmap discussions and project priority setting.
  • Serve as Project Manager for identified process improvements from scoping through completion.
  • Training team and others on new and existing business processes.
  • Coordinate annual reviews of work instructions and process documentation to ensure continual accuracy. 
  • Work on special projects as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 10 years accounting experience in a manufacturing industry (preferably chemical manufacturing) or other relevant industry.
  • 5+ years of management level experience with consistent track record for achieving assigned goals and objectives.
  • Integrated business systems experience.
  • Extensive experience in accounting department management, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) implementation/tools.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and global ERP software with preference for SAP knowledge and experience.
  • Strong project management experience. 
  • Experience leading high performing teams and the ability to work in a global environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence others outside and across the organizational structure.
  • Ability to present complex issues in a usable format to a diverse audience in written and verbal form.

Education, Certifications & Licenses

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance 
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred
