Key Responsibilities

  • Manages and leads capital projects for the plant. 
  • Responsible to project and personal Heath, Safety, Environmental and Security performance excellence.
  • Strictly follows the Kraton stage-gated capital execution work process (1KCP)
  • Determines the resources needed by the project to execute it efficiently
  • Is responsible for applying sound engineering practices and ensuring code, regulatory and safety compliance
  • Leads the project team to accomplish the scope of work and achieve project goals, schedule milestones, cost and quality objectives
  • Ensures that a clear and complete scope definition for each project is prepared and accepted by the project customer and stakeholders
  • Develops a documented Project Execution Plan for each project which is scaled to the size and complexity of that project
  • Develops a documented Construction Execution Plan for each project which is scaled to the size and complexity of that project
  • Prepares thorough Requests for Proposals (RFP’s) for engineering, equipment and construction activities
  • Works in conjunction with procurement to secure competitive bids using the RFP process.   Prepares detailed bid analysis including cost and material break downs, Technical Bid Evaluations and Commercial Bid Evaluations to select the best bidder
  • Determines the resources needed by the project to execute it efficiently
  • Responsible for prompt recognition, documentation, and communication of scope and design changes and for client authorization prior to scope changes
  • Maintains and tracks scope, schedule, cost and quality trends throughout the project using Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel
  • Ensures the accuracy and completeness of all deliverables and services provided by the project
  • Holds regular project meetings and communicates regularly to keep all team members and project stakeholders up to date on the status of the project, progress against milestones, costs, schedule progress and other critical or contractual items
  • Has responsibility for project completion, including quality of deliverables, and closeout

Required Skills

  • Must have 7+ years of project management experience as a project manager
  • Experience working on complete projects
  • Experience in project management and forecasting.
  • Effective Communications Skills (verbally, written, presentation). 
  • Collaborates effectively with plant engineering, maintenance, and leadership.
  • Able to rapidly acquire knowledge of the site(s) including chemical processes and physical layout. 
  • Willing to work at another plant location to execute projects as needed
  • Ability to lead teams to complete objectives within defined parameters
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP system
  • Working knowledge of construction in chemical plants and ability to engage and communicate with craftspersons
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 1910.119, OSHA 1926, ASME B31.3 and section IX
  • Working knowledge of Electrical, DCS and PLC systems as they pertain to project execution

Education, Certifications & Licenses

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical engineering from an accredited college/university. 
  • PMP certification is highly recommended.
  • OSHA 30 a plus
