Assistant Production Manager - Production Engineer

The Shift Supervisor ensures that operational areas meet safety, compliance, and production goals while developing shift leader capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all established safety, environmental, security, and health policies
  • Prioritize safety action items and work notifications for timely risk reduction
  • Understand environmental targets and appropriate responses to ensure department remains in compliance and meets established targets
  • Work directly with operations maintenance coordinator to keep environmental equipment reliable and efficient.
  • Ensure compliance in all areas and make necessary production decisions to meet compliance requirements
  • Promote leading indicator initiatives that result in personal and process risk reduction
  • Support, participate, and review failure analysis to ensure actions result in risk reduction
  • Coordinate with all shifts leaders to establish shift to shift and department to department consistency
  • Improve shift leader capability through mentoring and coaching on effective leadership, proactively addressing plant needs, and how to meet employee needs
  • Implement strategies to ensure shift leaders and employees understand their responsibilities and how to respond to employee questions/concerns
  • Be the lead for Kronos, employee work schedules, execution of daily notes, supports shift leads with managing union relationships
  • Execute on direct report development opportunities through use of the IDP process
  • Ensure operational targets are met and deficiencies are corrected to meet goals
  • Coordinate entire plant for resource needs: flow to work, coordination with ops and supply change
  • Implement and maintain processes for shift to consistency for safety, cleanliness, operator rounds, and shift to shift communications
  • Participate in RCFA’s and 5-whys as required and meet deadlines for completion
  • Coordinate with shift leads to implement strategies to reduce fixed and variable costs
  • Eliminate production variances in the production to increase predictability

Required Skills

  • Experience in leading teams and managing others.
  • Effective communications skills (verbally, written, presentation).
  • Collaborates effectively with site leadership.
  • Knowledge and capability to use advanced systematic and creative problem solving tools.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering and/or related fields within an industrial manufacturing setting (chemical preferred)

Education, Certifications & Licenses

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field.
