Key Responsibilities

  • Calculate and review corporation income tax calculations prepared either internally or by external providers.  Including the calculation of return to provision, deferred tax accounting under Brazil GAAP and IFRS and preparing appropriate journal entries.
  • Manage other (direct and indirect) tax filings including but not limited to PIS/COFINS, ICMS, IPI, IOF, and EFD to include reviewing calculation.
  • Ensuring all tax filings are made timely and in accordance with local tax requirements including proper input into tax portal.
  • Review and supervise the preparation of tax return payments and estimated tax payments for direct and indirect taxes.
  • Prepare IFRS and local GAAP tax provisions.
  • Review and calculate uncertain tax position under IFRIC 23.
  • Prepare account reconciliations of tax accounts.
  • Manage, review, or prepare responses to eCAC notices, tax assessments, notices, and audits.
  • Monitoring legislation changes and assess impact on company as well as providing guidance to comply with new tax requirements.
  • Respond to internal inquiries regarding various tax related matters.
  • Review and assist with preparation of transfer pricing documentation.
  • Assist with tax technical research and analysis.
  • Maintain tax calendar.
  • Deliver honest, constructive feedback to team.
  • Assist in identifying and capturing process improvement opportunities.
  • Work with staff to develop goals and objectives and provide performance feedback.

Required Skills

  • 7+ years of experience in a large corporate tax environment - Big 4 firm experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills in project management and improvement projects.
  • Experience with TaxOne
  • Ability to lead a group of professional employees
  • Capable of delivering honest, constructive feedback to staff.
  • Capable of identifying and capturing process improvement opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work well with others and under minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to perform technical research, and willing to teach staff how to perform technical research.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment which requires prioritization and ability to multi-task.
  • Highly self-motivated; takes initiative; identifies and addresses issues; works efficiently with attention to detail.
  • Must be proficient in the English language

Education, Certifications & Licenses

  • Masters in Taxation or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA or CRC is preferred.
