The Health, Safety, Environmental and Security (HESE) Manager leads and drives site performance towards HSES Excellence, as outlined in the Kraton Core Values and HSES Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead safety engagement initiatives at the plant level and drive a Zero Harm safety culture.
  • Maintains current health, safety and environmental regulations, codes and standards.
  • Works with other departments and onsite contractors to achieve regulatory compliance and safety targets.
  • Provides leadership for safety risk reduction, other HSES risk assessments , MOC activities, incident investigations and other HSES activities.
  • Continuous reduction of HSES risk for site operations.
  • HSE Excellence performance aligned with ISO 14001 & Responsible Care management systems.
  • Implementation and compliance with global HSES policies; with special emphasis on the Life Critical Policies (LCPs).
  • Implement, monitor, and continuously improve effective HSES Management System.
  • Corrective Action Plan Monitoring — including quality control of actions implemented.
  • Do the regular gap analysis for regulatory changes — evaluate how these will apply to site by interfacing with regulatory agencies and corporate staff.
  • Responsible for HSE&S compliance reporting.
  • Effective implementation of the Security and Fire Protection Programs.
  • And other duties as assigned to safely perform.

Required Skills

  • 7+ years of experience is required for this role.
  • Leadership experience with ability to clearly communicate objectives to the top leadership of the company.
  • RC14001, PSM, and RMP experience.
  • Excellent interaction and negotiation skills required as the job will interface w/ leadership levels from the top levels of the company through technical and operating staff.
  • This level of competency is generally achieved with 10 or more years of experience in HSE&S roles.
  • Extensive experience in chemicals manufacturing.

Education, Certifications & Licenses

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, safety sciences or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
