The Maintenance Mechanic works in an outdoor (90%) chemical industrial plant to inspect, repair, install and maintain production equipment within the facility.  Maintenance may also lubricate, clean and perform applicable preventative maintenance on equipment.  This position includes routine shop repairs including shop work and fabrication.  Availability to work nights, holidays, weekends, or overtime may be required based on operational needs. Plant operations occur in a 24/7 environment and required work includes work that may be in inclement weather, as part of confined space entry or as part of a confined space team and may occur at heights up to 150 feet.  Participation in Confined Space, Emergency Response, and Safety programs and processes are required.

We are seeking journeyman mechanics that are experienced pipefitters, mechanics, boilermakers and/or millwrights. Starting hourly rate is $34.77-$37.54.

Key Responsibilities

  • Personal and job risk assessments including permit to work, lock out tag out, and confined space entry.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to solve problems.   
  • Adjusting equipment control settings and recording data.
  • Lubricate, clean, and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Provide immediate and break-in assistance to maintain production and repair equipment.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of contractor, project, and shut down projects as needed.

Required Skills

  • Critical Physical requirements include lifting, generally 50 lbs, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, stair climbing, ladder climbing, operating of heavy equipment, and manual manipulation with both hands.  Required physical abilities include, but are not limited to vision, peripheral, depth perception, and auditory functions within normal ranges.  Utilized Tools include parts and equipment, forklift, overhead hoist, boom/crane truck, motor jack-manual hydraulics, safety harness, and confined space PPE.  The use of PPE is required as determined by job tasks and employees are subject to working in dusty environments while wearing a respirator. 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to effectively work on teams.
  • Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and SAP (or other CMMS).
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, with demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Trouble shooting, ability to utilize critical thinking, sound decision making, and disciplined problem solving.    

Education, Certifications & Licenses

  • 1-3 years’ experience in chemical manufacturing preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Journeyman, licenses, and professional trade certification preferred.
