R&D Technical Associate Applications

The focus of this position will be on the applications and technical service work for the various pine chemicals markets that we serve, with a strong focus on dispersion technology. This position will contribute to the use of our raw materials and end-use products in various applications to support new product development research and customer requests to help us reach our business goals.  

The Technical Associate (Applications) will be part of the larger Technical Service Team at our Kraton Innovation Center in Savannah, Georgia but will the dispersion expert located in Europe

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and execution of research work surrounding the applications and technical support for the various markets we serve in the Pine Chemicals business.   
• A key focus will be formulation and application testing around our dispersion technology
• Supporting our dispersion plant in Panama City FL. 
• Provide technical service and sales support to manage customer needs.  
• Reporting and presentations of new product application data and/or customer-specific testing results.
• Assess and help to determine the value proposition for new product opportunities
• Use of specialized equipment and ability to troubleshoot.

Required Skills

• Flexibility to learn new technologies and applications as opportunities are identified. 
• Must be self-motivated with the ability to work with limited supervision  
• Willingness to travel and support production trials. 
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.  
• Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional, multi-national and diverse backgrounds.
• Previous technical customer interaction is a plus. 
• Water-based formulation and adhesive experience a plus

Education, Certifications & Licenses

• HS Diploma + 8 years relevant experience OR
• Associate Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering/MLO/MBO Vocational Background + 7 years relevant experience OR
• Bachelor of Science: Biology, Chemistry, Engineering + 6 years relevant experience OR
• Entry-level Master of Science
