R&D Technician

At Kraton, we make a Positive Difference, and we are looking for individuals who are also looking to make a difference in their jobs, for our customers and to the world.  We are looking to hire a key member of our Performance Chemical R&D  team at our Savannah, GA location.  

The purpose of the Technician role is to provide laboratory synthesis, technical service and manufacturing support to scientists as well support the maintenance and growth of the business in target market segments. The Technician is expected to perform all duties in a safe manner and to maintain a safe operating environment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage experimental knowledge and demonstrate healthy behaviors to add value to the work environment
  • Set up and conduct laboratory tests and experiments, record and analyze data, interpret data and make recommendations
  • Operate experimental set-up, modify where necessary relevant to specific subject matter
  • Carry out experimental work according to clearly defined safety and environmental guidelines with guidance from supervisor
  • Produce quality data by the agreed upon deadlines
  • Routinely purchase standard laboratory consumables and contribute to laboratory equipment installations and improvements.
  • Inform supervisor of any experimental deviations from expected or specified values
  • And other duties as assigned to safely perform

Required Skills

  • Basic awareness of experimental techniques
  • Understanding of equipment procedures required to execute experiments, and ability to translate procedures into a detailed working method
  • Ability to communicate openly with team on experiment and procedure walk-throughs
  • Demonstrated ability to obtain & organize experimental data according to methods indicated by supervisor
  • Demonstrated ability to have components or auxiliary equipment made/ordered in consultation with supervisor
  • High sense of safety awareness and responsibility for own working environment
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to use good judgment in making decisions with guidance from supervisor
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action
  • Familiarity with relevant health and safety policies with regard to experiments and chemical usage

Education, Certifications & Licenses

  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate’s degree preferred: Biology, Chemistry, Engineering
  • Minimum 1 years related experience preferred
