The Supply Chain Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, coordinating and helping lead the day-to-day shipping/receiving for the facility to maximize efficiency and productivity.   Helps supervise the flow of goods, resources and information required to ensure that critical processes run effectively and achieve organization goals and performance KPI’s.   This role involves optimizing logistics and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services.  He/she provides troubleshooting support for the supply chain processes to successfully meet department goals which including compliance with all environmental and safety policies and procedures. The Supervisor identifies and recommends process optimization and reliability improvements within Supply Chain and maintains the departments training manuals. The Supervisor must be able to manage people, multiple priorities and be able to form effective working relationships to collaborate closely with other departments, including EHS, HR, Production, Maintenance, Central Logistics, CSR and Quality to meet organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervises 2-3 employees.  It provides leadership and guidance including training, performance evaluations and professional development.
  • Manages local warehouse understanding how to collaborate better for a more efficient shipping/managing inventory process.
    •  Reconcile inventory and work with auditor to ensure SOX compliance.
  • Champion ISO procedures.  Establishes/modifies Standard Operation Procedures and Work Instructions for Supply Chain.
  • Partner with rail car coordinator/central logistics in improving rail car velocity and efficiencies.
  • Insures EHS compliance within department.
  • Work with distillation process engineers on fatty acid and rosin balances
  • Helps identify appropriate talent within the team and suggest possible and more effective ways to leverage existing skills.
  • Helps implement cross training program and ongoing practices within the team.
  • Responds to customer complaints with written response and corrective actions.  Also responsible for training staff on new corrective actions/new processes.  Audit effectiveness on corrective action.
  • Approves Raw Material Authorizations.
  • Assist manager with offsite tank management balances and relationships.
  • Monitors and controls demurrage cost/ on rail cars and trucks and works with Production supervision to streamline loading tasks.
  • Requisition supplies, contractors, services as needed for plant upkeep, maintenance, and operation.
  • Generates reports and data on computer and create visibility within the SC organization.
  • Helps identify SC bottlenecks or problem areas, partner with appropriate internal organizations to propose solutions.
  • Helps manager coordinate workers, lead and encourage staff and implementing company policies and standards

Required Skills

  • Must possess and demonstrate strong functional expertise and people management skills.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in chemical manufacturing or related industry.
  • Experience with unionized workers.
  • Some analytical skills preferred.
  • Must be proficient in the use of personal computer applications and business information systems.
  • Such as PI system, DCS, SAP, Microsoft Office Tools, including Sharepoint, SAP, etc.
  • The ability to accomplish goals and objectives by identifying complex problems and organizing teams to explore and resolve problems.
  • Ability to build strong working cross functional relationships to help support SC Team in everyday work processes.
  • Ability to influence others within its team to provide excellent customer service

Education, Certifications & Licenses

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply  Chain or Business (Preferred)
