At Kraton, we make a Positive Difference, and we are looking for individuals who are also looking to make a difference in their jobs, for our customers and to the world.  We are looking to hire a key member of our R&D team at our Shanghai Lab. 

Key Responsibilities

The purpose of the Technical Associate role is to provide laboratory synthesis, analytical, technical service and manufacturing support to scientists, to support the maintenance and growth of the business in target market segments. The Technical Associate is expected to perform all duties in a safe manner and to maintain a safe operating environment.

Safety
•    Carry out activities following well defined safety and environmental standards
•    Monitor the lab to ensure regulations and safety are enforced
•    Lead safety activities when appropriate
Experimental
•    Formulate, set-up and complete small experimental projects under minimal supervision by selecting and applying the appropriate approach and gather informational support
•    Execute experimental programs with responsibility for quality of data produced and meeting agreed deadline
•    Maintain lab equipment
•    Coordinate, troubleshoot and modify installations, experimental setups, and specialized equipment
Data Analysis
•    Process, organize and evaluate experimental data in support of own and other’s work by comparing outcomes of previous investigations, or results quoted in literature and basic statistical analysis 
Communication
•    Participate in the preparation and generation of reports
•    Provide technical advice and communicate regularly to customers and manufacturing partners under guidance of direct supervisor
•    Coach, mentor and train junior technicians

And other duties as assigned to safely perform.

Required Skills

• Broad understanding of underlying scientific concepts related to the experimental work
• Ability to formulate the experimental program in detail; troubleshoot and modify as needed
• Ability to conduct routine presentations and adequately answer ad hoc questions

Education, Certifications & Licenses

• HS Diploma + 8 years relevant experience OR
• Associate Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering/MLO/MBO Vocational Background + 7 years relevant experience OR
• Bachelor of Science: Biology, Chemistry, Engineering + 6 years relevant experience OR
• Entry level Master of Science
